The Mosquito MK5 keeps the same proven sound generation system and speaker as previous versions, with a redesigned housing and modernised Bluetooth setup, configuration and control via a free Smartphone App. Here are its key features:
- Housing: Same cast alloy housing as MK4, now with a straight (non-louvred) front grill for easier aiming.
- Power: Runs on 24v DC via a supplied plug transformer (110v/240v AC to 24v DC). Draws ~370mA (9W) active, ~6mA (150mW) idle.
- Bluetooth App Control: Internal chips and function switches have been replaced with wireless Bluetooth configuration and real-time control via a free Smart-Phone App (Apple App Store & Google Play).
- Variable Frequency: 16.8 KHz (‘Teen’, audible under-25s only), 15 KHz, 13 KHz and 8.2 KHz (‘All-Age’), all modulated at the same 4Hz — with frequency changes programmable by time of day via the App.
- Volume: Maximum output unchanged at ~104dB, but now with 10 volume steps (up from 4), down to ~60dB — adjustable and programmable via the App.
- Preset Operations: Run continuously until cancelled, or auto shut-down after 1 hour or 20 minutes, triggered via the App, built-in timer, or an external trigger such as an RF remote or motion sensor.
- Built-in 7-Day Timer: Multiple events per day, each with its own time on/off, frequency and volume — e.g. Teen mode at max volume after school, All-Age mode at low volume overnight.
- Status LED: A single LED (deselectable via the App) replaces the old audible ‘beep’ as an indicator that the unit is running.
- Trigger Options: 4 digital inputs for CCTV control; 12v DC output for a motion sensor (5 minute run per trigger); 12v DC output for an RF remote control (continuous or preset duration); and the built-in App timer.
- Power Connection: Prewired with a 5 meter power cable (2.5mm female jack + plugged transformer) with multiple international plug heads, ready to plug in worldwide out of the box.
